Just bought a new allis. Wide front (sq tube axle) , No hydraulics, . The guy that sold it said it was a C . S/N looks like C75300 ...It's hard to read, is there a s/n anywhere else beside top of trans? Thanks for your help.

Brian,
It's real simple. If the transmission is three speed, it's a C. If it's a four speed, it's a CA.
The top of the transmission is the only place I know of for the S/N on the little A-Cs.

Yep, 3-spd, Its a C . the wide front threw me , I thought all C's were narrow front. Now that I know what it is, I can order manuals. Thanks for your help.

Yep. The square tube front axle was optional. I have one on a '40 B. The folks around here in Central Texas refer to it as a "Peanut Special", but I haven't found any reference to that term in any of my A-C books.

The C's came with wide front as an option (I have one) but they were rather rare. Mine has a pan seat too. I have a picture of an adjustable (square tube) wide front on a 'B' model as well.

Try King's Books for manuals, they are reprints of AC manuals. They have a B-C service manual, and a C operators manual. They are $5.95 and $8.95. Shipping is $2 per order and they are at PO Box 86, Radnor, Ohio, 43066-0086.

I believe your the proud owner of a 1949 C. The CA serial numbers started with "CA" and only went to 39513 according to Swinford.
