what is the best way to neutralize calcium chloride from tire fluid on wheels and repaint wheels rusted from leaking fluid

I would clean and then sandblast rims if I wanted them to last. If all rust pits are not cleaned the rims will rust again. Too much work to redo again.

I agree, then use something that won't rust, like your (and your friends) used antifreeze to weight the wheels. It isn't quite as heavy but works. And it doesn't rust things to death.

Break down the tire and wash the rim with soap and water. I rinse it with my pressure washer and then re-wash it with fresh soap and water in a rinsed out wash pail.

Remove all the lose rust and scale with a stiff wire wheel and paint the rims with something like Hammerite. Hammerite needs no primer and goes right over surface rust. It leaves a finish that is real hard and looks like ceramic. Great product.

With a new tube, you're ready to go.

Take it all apart get new tube . Rince with water to dilute the calcium cloride (it is just salt water] Repaint and you are in business. Some people use old anti freeze as it is non corrosive
