Splitting gearbox from torque tube?

Can the gearbox be removed easily from the torque tube, or do I have to split the engine and torque tube first, to remove the shaft.

on the B you can disconnect the torque tube at the transmission, My book says that when you roll it apart there is a cotter pin to remove from a u joint in the drive shaft and that once you do that the rear end is free,good luck

Thanks Peter for help, i've worked on late model fiat's, internationals and david browns, but was not quite sure with the little allis. Just wondering if you have a picture of the rear linkage? If you do, is there any chance of getting a copy.

usually you can seperate the trans from the torque tube with out spliting but you dont say what tractor you have so cant say for sure.

My tractor is a model B Allis Chalmers with the adjustable front axle and made in 1945. I would like to strip the gearbox down, to remove the milky oil residue and to check to gears and bearings. Thanks for the help so far. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
