What oil weight should be used in my Wd 45?

I need to know what type of oil to use in my WD 45 engine crankcase. I have heard different opinions (some say SAE 30 non detergent, others say 20 weight non detergent or 10W-30). I have no idea what has been previously used in it.

30 wt non-detergent year round. . .you can gradually switch it over to detergent oil if you wish. .just add 1/2 more quart detergent each time while subtracting 1/2 quart non-detergent

Example would be. current oil change has 6 quarts of non-detergent oil. . .next oil change use 5.5 non-detergent, 1/2 quart detergent, (make sure you change the filter each time)
next oil change go 5 non-detergent, 1 detergent and so on until you have completely changed it over. . .you don't have to accelerate it that quickly either. .do it every other time if you are concerned that it may let loose too much dirt at once.

Depend on where you live. If you are only going to run it in the summer, or change the oil before winter, then 30 or 10w-30 would be fine. I'd be tempted to run non detergent oil if you don't nkow the history. Detergent oil can clean the pipes so to speak and run crud through the system. And the WD45 does not have the best filtering system for that sort of stuff. If you plan on doing a tear down and rebuild and all is freshly clean, then detergent would be fine. If it's a little short on oil pressure, then heavier oil can buy some time.
