Simple Solenoid Question

I have a '49 "C" with an aftermarket solenoid for the starter instead of the foot style switch common to most. It has 2 large terminals which I have connected to the Neg. battery post and starter post. There is a small terminal which I believe has to get power from the push button in my control box when I push it. My question is: Where do I connect the small terminal to? Simple enough, right? Please help. Thanks.

you are right. the two big posts go between the battery and the starter lug. there are normally two small terminals. If you only have one, we can assume the solenoid "case" is the ground and when bolted to the tractor it will actually be connected to the positive post of the battery, since the positive post is also grounded (bolted to the tractor frame). The entire tractor frame is actually positive. The other small post should have a wire running to a push button which has two terminals. the second terminal of the push button gets its power from the negative terminal of the battery. (a lot of times it is actually connected to the negative cable running to the solenoid. either end of the cable is o.k.)
