the kind of people who do these things know that there are people out there who will buy things like this no questions asked. i said something about this on another tractor board and some people almost took my head off for me wanting the govt. to register farm and heavy equipment like they do cars. i wonder if they really didnt want the govt. in their business or they were worried about where some of their tractors and parts come from!not all of these people who sell 'dad's old tractor have the right to sell it. some are just out and out thieves. just like the elderly woman here they arrested for bilking nursing home residents out of thousands!try to find out the history of the machine you are buying! if you dont then you are part of the problem. this post isnt aimed at anyone on the ac boards that i know of. but there are people like this out there. our area had a rash of garden tractor thefts like this years ago. most of the tractors ended up 'down south' or miles away where they werent suspected. the police caught them . no buyer ever did!!keep a pic and serial numbers of your equipment and hidden i.d. numbers on it too! hope you find the equipment. oh if the buyer thinks he got it legit, you will no chance of getting it back! unless you see it there ,it is 'oh yeah it was junk and we scrapped it or parted it out!! i understand believe me!!
