New B owner ... questions!

Adding to my ever-growing old tractor fetish, I've just picked up a 1938 B. No electrics.

I need to replace the rims on the rear, and the gas tank has a bad fiberglass patch job.

Are gas tanks available?

I notice that several different widths of rim are available. What's the difference, and which would be best (tires are shot - so I have to get replacements anyway)?

Thanks for any advice.

Your early B likely had the tank that mounted with the bracket on the bottom, unlike the later ones with a top strap. We have good used early tanks for $99. Drop the parts gals an e mail or ph 724-376-2489 8-5 eastern if interested. Bill

JAE,
Yes, gas tanks are still around. Since A-C built the B up into '57 there are lots of them still running and plenty of spare parts. You might try removing the bad patch and redoing it right yourself if it's not too bad. The rear rims can be gotten from Miller Tire at the link below. I think 9" wide rims were original, but don't take that as gospel.
The Unofficial Allis-Chalmers site is another great source of info too.
I have a '40 B similar to yours.
