CA Horse Power/Mower Capability

Can someone tell me what the horse power of a 1949 CA would be, and what size/type of pull type rotary mower it can comfortably handle? The tractor does NOT have a 3 pt hitch and we do pull on some MILD inclines. Thanks.

Thr horsepower is 24 drawbar and 27 PTO. It depends on how thick the field is that you are cutting but you should be fine with a 5 foot. I wouldn't go any bigger. I don't see many 4 foot pull behinds out there.

I have a 72" woods belly mower on my 52 CA. I don't have any problem finish mowing in 3rd gear.

Best check you serial # beside gear shift and see what you have for sure. I believe CA's started in l950 with only a few. Check serial # on this site under Research and Info. Also check the article "The Little AC's." It describes a lot about C's and CA's. Belly mower would be best for this tractor (B's, C's and CA's) I think.

I have a 1955 CA and pull a woods XT60 (60 inch) mower behind it to cut my field. Never had a problem yet or lacked sufficient power for the mower. CT Central Tractor Stores sell both pull behind and three point hitch type mowers. Mine is the three point hitch type.
