Saturday I helped a neighbor retreive his new '42 B. We had quite a time and ended up overhauling the carb to get her running. Sat afternoon I was on the computer in my office and the wife comes in and says"You smell like an old tractor!" To a collector like myself that is a compliment! What do the rest of you think? Have a good day.

My wife says all of those smells plus "burnt" which is different from the other smell I bring home, "old Jeep". There's a definate difference between an Allis B smell and a Jeep smell, although they get combined. The cats love it too.

I love the smell of my old tractor when I go into the garage. Like I told a woman, love me-love my tractor.

Heh, I noticed the same thing in my garage when I finally got my late grandfather's 100 home and in my garage on a Saturday. When I opened the garage door the next Monday morning, the "old tractor" smell started drifting out. My car probably didn't know what to think. As for the smell - possibly a combination of gas, oil, exhaust fumes, and soil? Dunno if the women would want an auto air freshener that smelled like "old tractor," although I think it's a neat idea.

Maybe you could isolate that smell and make cologne? Auto air freshners? Aerosol room deoderizers? Scented kitty litter?

With all the dot com ad $$$ drying up, it's going to take ALL of us to keep this site going. Most of us spend at least $20/yr on mags we would dump in a minute to save YT. This call for support is no light matter and if we all don't follow your lead and put our money where our tractor seat is, we'll lose this site.
