I have a 4 wheel hydrolic lift wagon. It wont raise all the way without adding oil. When extended fully, then lowered, hyd. oil , overflows out of the hyd. fill cap. Did Allis make a extra resivour,and will all the extra hyd. oil damage pump if ran with lift down? It is over full with lift down. Thanks

There must be something wrong with this solution because I haven't read about other people doing it. When I put a loader on my WD, I ran a hose from the ram-side ports back to the resevoir for the pump. As the pump pushes the ram out, oil on the ram side of the piston flows to the pump. When the ram returns inside the cylinder, oil returns to the cylinder cavity.

aaron is probably right. Your tractor puts out 3000 pounds of oil pressure, but only maybe a gallon a minute flow. Do you know what the waagon cylinder needs. It may be less that half the pressure and 3 or 4 times as much flow. You can check by looking at a tag on the cylinder, or, how fast does the wagon rise. Real real slow probably proves the above. You might be able to reduce the cylinder diameter. If the wagon is (lets say) a 3 inch bore, low pressure, you may be able to install a 2 inch bore high pressure and it will take less oil to fill, and rise faster. Just a thought.

The system holds 6 Qts. According to the manual: "When using hydraulicly operated machinery other than manufactured by Allis-Chalmers, do not use rams with more than 40 cu. in. capacity". My dad built a square tank (about 10" long X 5" wide and 8" tall) that bolts on to the frame rail. He piped it into the system simply by inserting a street ell into the hydraulic drain plug hole and running 1/2" pipe over to the tank. Others on the A-C sites have done similar things to increase their oil capacity.

I think they only held something like 6 pints of oil more or less. Never going to work n the high capacity cylinders on hoists. I have heard of reservoirs, but never saw one and for the cost, it might be easier to buy a tractor with the hydraulics to do the job. If you ever did find enough rooom for all the oil, the 3000 psi pump would blow the end clean off of the cylinder anyway.
