The front on the left is the 1938 narrow front B and the one on the right is my 1941 C The C has a oil plug that the B does not.

Hey Dick looks similiar to my 52 CA narrow front,is the "c" same as a "ca" Thanks Larry

No they are different in the support or top section. The CA has the two bosses to bolt cultivators and other things to, that stick out the front. The spindle might be the same. I say might only because I have never tried to interchange them. They look to be the same.

I think this shows what I mean about the bosses. This is a wide front but both the wide front and the narrow use the same grill.

Ther were no narrow front Bs the were all wide fronts, some were adjustable and some were not. they also did not use a gear box in front like the C did If you look in the parts manual you will find there are no parts listed for a B with a wide front. Also if you look in Norm Swindfords book it lists all the differnt models and how many were made. there are no Bs. The parts on a B &a C were so interchangeable that I am sure you can find a tractor With a B serial number and anarrow front, but it is not correct and has been put together by somebody.

Look at the the front support and tell me what tractor it could have come off of. Where the shaft comes out on the right side, the casting does not extend as far as the C. There is more of the shaft showing between the arm and the casting, and the arm is shorter. I am also told that the old dealer parts books have this front with the parts breakdown in them and have I requested a copy.

I started to strip the tractor down last night and will take the front stearing apart and compair the parts with a C front that I have apart now.

This is a 1938 and they didn't start making the C's untill 1940. The serial number on this tractor is B10112

I am sure your tractor is a B the rear wheels on it are held on by a big nut, the Cs were always held on with bolts. Someone has put the front end aff an early C on it. the early Cs had the short arm with an offset in it, but it was hard to steer so they sarted putting alonger arm on them for more leverage to make them easier to steer.

Hey I don't want to rain on your parade but I say your narrow front is off a C. There are photos of the short arm narrow front like yours in the factory info about the C that I have. Not too hard for someone to switch.
