Allis loader model 400 vs. 500

I am looking for a front pump hydraulic loader to fit my D15 II. Can anyone tell me the difference between the Allis Model 400 loader and the Allis Model 500 loader. Will either model fit the D15? What should be the price of these loaders in average condition?

The 400 series used tractor hydraulics, while the 500 series used a front pump. There were other differences, but that's the main one. Having said that, years ago, we bought a D17 with a 417 loader, and it has a front pump. So according to other literature, it's been modified. But it has loaded thousands of tons of everything, and I'm never going to sell it. I think you will looking for a 415 loader, our 417 is a real good match for the tractor, but if it lifted any more, there would be real stabilty problems, even with a counterweight, spread out wheels and loaded tires.. I have been called a liar, but I proved it to myself, loading winter pack manure on concrete, our D17 with this loader outperformed a John Deere 2350 with 245 loader. This is not a slam against the Deere, and I don't handle round bales where the Deere is an ace, but I'll stick with the AC.

I also have a D-17 (gas) with a 417 loader.

Unfortunately, I don't know the history on this machine because I inherited it when my father-in-law passed away, but I think it is factory.

There is a front pump on my D-17 also.

I can confirm in the ability of this combination as recently I removed a 500 gallon underground tank. To my surprise, the tank was almost half full of fuel oil, but that didn't stop old Allis from lifting it out of the ground. Figure the weight of a 500 gallon tank and about 200 gallons of fuel oil and she was able to lift it!

I have moved lots of round bales (soft core) which weigh approx. 800 lbs with no problem at all. I think the rear tires are loaded with Calcium, but I have no counterweight on the back of the tractor.

For it's age, it's a great machine!
