she was sitting for 5 years and froze up i got it broke free and had all new valves, springs and guides and the head redone got good compression but i dont think its hitting on all 4. every few min. they all kick in only for a second or two then she sputters and bucks the carb was redone also that leads me to believe its electrical kinda like its cross firing with a wet cap or wires but they are fine and dry i have the firing order and point specs but dont know which cylinder is what any help would be great than you Tony

Need owners and service manual for a Allis Chalmers Model 310 with Kohler 10 HP motor. I think I have a 1965. It is in the 60's I think.

Tony, If its 12-volt be sure you have a resitor in-line before the coil. To much juice will make it miss some. Make sure battery is fully charged. (Got a 6-volt one thats not charging.Think its because of to much paint and amp box not grounded and causing a no charge situation. When battery is charged up good the tractor doesn't miss. After a period of time it will start missing.) Also,some plugs seem to do better than others for me. Just somethings I've bumped into,good luck.

cylinders are numbered from front to back 1 2 3 4 . to check for miss pull plug wires one at a time the one that makes no difference when removed is the dead cylinder.hope this is a help.

hey thanks guys the cylinders were a little pitted but i ball honed them out and cleaned them up i should of thrown new rings in it got it really cheap has a huge mower deck with hydralics nice for the 15 acre yard lol

Take the spark plugs out and see what they look like directly after you shut her off. Tell us what they look like around the electrode. You may have a plug fouling out. Also get it running as slow as you can and pull one plug wire off at a time and see what ones make no difference in the sound of the engine.
