Tom,
How did you get the ram out? I've been fiddling around with mine on the bench for a while and really didn't want to break anything.

I got mine apart by wrenching and hoping alot. Mine has an elbow on the hose end which would not come off but I used a real big pair of chanel locks to get the packing nut unscrewed then slid the ram in and out a few times (getting a gob of oil to squirt out of the elbow onto me) and finally used two pipe wrenches to loosen the packing nut end. Next time I would try to find some kind of wrench that doesn't have teeth to mar the pipe. I had to file the marks down. a friend made me a new stainless steel ram and I went to a place called Timco Bearings and bought new packing which was in the big nut.

That answers my question. I couldn't tell if I needed to unscrew the packing nut end or just take off the packing nut. Many thanks!

Ron,
Have you ever taken the pump off? I would like to at least clean it out but I am not sure if it stays in one piece when you un-bolt it rom the PTO.
