A couple of days ago there was a lot of discussion about these tractors. I would guess that Dick L.'s NF B is a B with a C front half or a C with B final drives? When the Bs came out with the adj. wide front axle in '45, they were also equipped with "dished" wheels like the Cs so that both the front and rear tread widths could be adjusted. They retained the "low-slung" drag link with the pitman arm pointing down instead of the C's high drag link with the pitman pointing up. Now I don't claim to "B" the "B" expert (although I spent many hours as a youth on a "regular" ol' '41 B of my father's) but that's kinda how I "C" it.

Brian like you I grew up with a 41 and a 48 B.My dad and brouther were out bying the 48B when I was borne! I still have both the tractors and the 41 is my every day tractor.

Im trying to buy a 1949 B right now. It looks as you say. Has a wide adjustable front end, dished rear wheels, also 5 lug nuts on each axle. Also has internal hyd pump with one cylinder for belly mower. Does not have the rear lift arms.
