Have a chance to pick up and Allis-Chalmers WD that is stuck, but otherwise in very good shape. Is this a good collectable item?

Although this is probably not a real indication, if you look at the tractors "registered" on this site, you will find that the WD is tied in 2nd place with the WC in the total number registered. The "B" is #1. The total over at the "Unofficial Allis-Chalmers" site reflects nearly the same relationship and there are many more "registered" tractors over there. This may only mean there are still a lot more of these tractors out there yet, but there definitely is a lot of interest in them as evidenced also by the discussions on the A-C forums. The As, Us, UCs and the other older tractors are probably the most collectible ones followed closely by the relatively rarer models of the 40s & 50s era such as the Gs, RCs and IBs. I believe that any good operating 50 year old tractor (if puchased at a reasonable price) can only appreciate in value over time. The nice thing about the WD & WD-45, is that they have the independent PTO which makes them more valuable as a "working" tractor as well.
