have a 38 wc. right before i shut it down last it all of the sudden went to above high idle speed. I mean it was really screaming. more rpms than it should ever run. of course i don't have a kill on my mag so i had to sit there and wait for it to run out of gas. tried to pull on likage to carb with little luck idleing down. like a dumby i didn't just choke it down, but anyway. all the linkage looks to be in working order. does this mean my gov just took a crap??? Thanks for any help

Had the same problem with mine once. It turned out to be that the pin on the governor weights wore thru and broke. Not bad to fix just be careful to align all timing marks before taking it apart. This will save a lot of time when putting it back together.
