Model C hood

Gettin ready to work on my hood, repairing the holes for the muffler and oil filler. They were previously hand cut at some time for some reason. Can anyone tell me what the correct size of the holes should be? I'm going to install a through the hood muffler on it. Thanks for any input.

2 1/2" for the muffler and 3 1/4" for the oil fill cap. I just wandered out and measured for you! That was a big task considering it's freezing here!! I'm new to all this but I know how to use a tape measure so this is the first time I've been able to help anyone. If you have other questions I can help with let me know. My C is very straight so I might be able to provide you with more info.... I don't think it's changed since it was built in '45. It's a great little tractor, hope you enjoy yours as much.

Thanks JW. Will probably start the hood repair this week. I know what you mean about cold. Even when I get the wood stove fired up in the garage, you still need heavy gloves to work because of the cold tools and metal. Won't be this way in 2011, we're moving to the "warm" climate in Ohio.

Thanks JW, Good to hear from you. I keep forgetting to take a tape with me when I do the same in the same cold, but then I have become a wimp in this long cold windy winter.
