Although the manual says the number S/B in 2 places (including where Dennis says), the 2nd place is where you're more likely to find it. Look at the rear vertical surface of the LH side of the differential between the brake spring hole and the brake adjusting bolt/locknut. There is a machined surface there where the "tractor" serial number is stamped. The number will start with WD whether it is a WD or a WD-45. Click on Serial Number Reference under Research and Info on the left of your screen to determine year of mfg. The "Engine" serial number is not used for determining year of Mfg., however, I am compiling some info on the relationship between the two numbers and I would appreciate it if you could post both the "tractor" and "engine" serial #s so I could add them to my list. The "engine" serial # is located on the side of the block just below the air cleaner hose. WD "engine" #s begin with WD while WD-45 "engine" #s begin with 45. Thanks, Brian G.

Tractor serial number is on top of left differential brake housing.
