does anyone know the gear ratio on the wc? is it the same for the rc?

The RC ratio was lower and the tapered roller bearing on the pinion gear end of the pinion shaft had only one row of rollers as opposed to two for the WC.

Bob,
I don't know the ratios of either differential, but the RC is definitely a "lower" ratio. Pullers love to add the RC rear axle to a WC and since they are basically the same it's a bolt on deal.

Lower ratio = higher speed - Higher ration = lower speed Does anybody know if there was an optional low speed gear set for the WD/WD-45s with the optional 38" wheels. I don't see different ring & pinion or different bull gear ratios listed in my parts manual.

WC ring and pinion: 4.5:1 Final Drive ratio 4:1
WD ratio 3.3:1 Final Drive ratio 5.5:1
WD-45 3.5:1 only w/ 45 trans.
WD-45 Diesel ratio 3.88: 1 or D-17 I would like to respectively submit these findings. It took much research to find them.
When the WC or orginal WD ratios are multiplied they are the same. The ratio of the 45 would actually change during the WD production w/ the "bent stick". The other possibility I remember is D-19 final drives will fit the WD transaxle. They have a lower ratio to match 34" tires.

standard was 4.7 to 1

with 36" tires it was 6.6 to 1

I believe the RC was different to make up for the smaller engine, but I can't find the ratio
