D14 Questions...

I bought a little D14 today...and its a real beauty. I've got a few questions if someone could help I'd appreciate it. The pitman arm on the steering box seems to be loose, not side to side, but up and down--what would cause that and how do I fix it. Also the tie rod ends have a little slop--approximately--what do they cost? Where do I check the transmission and hydralic fluids? Where is the serial # located? I wish I had a digital camera, this tractor has an add on cab...its really pretty darn nice, its a "full vision" cab, and it looks pretty good on the little tractor. As far as I can see the tractor is 100% complete and except for an alternator, all pretty much original-except for the cab. This is the first AC I've ever had and I used it to feed with tonight, and it seems like the perfect tractor for that kind of job. I plan on getting all the little things fixed and a new wiring harness, and hopefully when it warms up some new paint. Thanks for any help and advice.

Larry; The likely cause for the loosness in the pitman arm and tie rod ends is wear. some models are adjustable. If they are there will be a easily identified adjustment point on the joint. The D-14 is a great little chore tractor, they are reliable and pretty much trouble free, IF, they are properly maintained. There should be a large plug in the left lower transmission case to check the fluid level in the tranny. Hope this helps. J.L.
