Just got this tractor home today,serial#142871s.
How hard is it to go into the differential and re[place the axle seals and repair the brakes? Also this tractor has what appears to be a spring loaded relaese handle that is mounted to the transmission shifter,and another smaller shifter mounted closer towards the seat, what is that one for? Also is this a positive or negative ground system? Do not have any manuals on this tractor yet, so any information will be helpful. Thanks in advance.

BUDDY, ED WAS RIGHT ON.WHAT THAT SHORT LEVER DID OR DOES IS THAT IT SHIFS REAR END OUT OF GEAR...

Buddy you have to take the final drives off (gearboxes behind the rear tires ) to pull axels and brake drums. the seals are avable from AGCO dealer ,( very expensive )they also have wheel seals. It is not hard but very heavy. the leaver on the shifter is the reverse lock out. the short leaver is to stop the tractor and lift the cultivders . 6 volt positive grd.

those axle seals are available in the after-market for about 15 bucks ea. take a seal w/a readable number to any reputable auto parts store, and they should be able to help you. if you strike out there, e-mail me, and i'll dig up the National p/n for you. cp
