Latex Paint on Tractors/Implements

What is your experience with latex paint on tractors/implements, if any. I have a terrible allergy to solvent-based paints and hate to have to pay someone to paint all my implements.

If it is possible, what is the secret to the best bond?

Rick; I doubt you will get latex paints to stay on you're tractor or emplements. Even the exterior varieties are not formulated for use on this type application. I use automotive type paint or equiptment enamel. You may be able to use the water based auto paints but the preperation and application processes involved are very demanding. Good luck J.L.

I let some young punk at the local supply house talk me into using Martin Senior water based paint on some log bunks I built. I went to alot of trouble prepping these since they were going on a shiny new truck. I don't think the paint stayed over 6 months. After that, there was ablsolutely no trace of color(black) anywhere. It didn't wash off like you would expect but peeled off in sheets like there was absolutely no adhesion. That was my last experience painting anything other than drywall with latex. Just my experience with it.
