Need to get some charge in my B

I have a 6-volt system on a '47 model B. Have replace battery, new wiring harness, and battery cables. Have had the generator to shop and serviced and checked. I still don't have a charge. Need ideas on what to check next. Could it be the resistor switch or ammeter not letting the charge go through. Can I bypass these two to see which one might be the trouble? Again, all ideas helpful. Thanks.

see attached diagram from articles on this page. ground the field terminal as suggested and you should get full charge. This bypasses the light switch. Note the amp meter and wires. might check voltage from battery, after ampmeter and to generator. do you have 6 volts at the cutout relay, and then the A terminal?

If it is not charging. here is what to do. Pull the light switch all the way out that takes the resistor out of the circuit. The resistor is used only for low charge. Is the electiical box with amp meter back together, as the the light switch frame must be grounded in order to charge the battery. If that is not it, take a wire and ground the FIELD terminal of the generator, that should give you max charge. If that is not it, the cut out relay on top of the generator may be bad. Take a wire and short the two terminals on the cutout together momentarily with the tractor running. If it charges with the two terminals shorted ,then the cut out relay is bad. This assumes that you have a single relay cut out and not a regulator. Good luck.
