HD6G oil press. gauge

My friend bought a HD6G that has set for years but does run. &%#$$ pack-rats have eaten most of the wires off. While helping rewire things I came upon the oil pressure gauge that has a oil line that runs to the bottom of a block that the gauge in screwed into. On top of this block is a unit that looks just like a oil pressure sender unit for a guage. Two wires come to the top of the unit. Why would this be? Or is this some kind of low oil press. shut down to save the motor? And if so where do the wires go to? The rats only left a few inches of both wires. &^#%$ Rats. Thanks for any help.

I checked my book and the wires on the oil pressure switch are to activate the hour meter.

Check beneath your seat and see if there is a horn located there. I'm not sure, but think the horn may have been activated at low oil pressure.
