my son and i just purchased a 1945 A.C. C in excellent condition. it has great paint, good rubber, no leaks and starts every try. it came with a 4 foot front blade and a 5 foot woods belly mover. we paid $ 2800.00 for it.... did we do okay? it's our first venture into old tractors and we were just wondering

JW; You did very well on your first perchase. Welcome to the ol' Allis club. I own 14 and always looking for others. The C is great little chore/cultivation tractor. They are dependable and trouble free machines.I recommend you pick an I&T service manual for it. The manual # is AC-11, and is full of info on your machine. One other thing, since the C is a row crop tractor, narrow front, be careful on hillsides and sharp turns as they can be turned over easier than there wide front cousins. Enjoy your Allis. J.L.

I think you did great on that price. Dont get a price on what its value is to everyone else, just enjoy playing with it. Hope you and your son have a lot of fun with it,

Congratulations on your purchase, and welcome to the club. I also just recently purchased my first tractor; a 1948 "C". It is in very good condition and included a two way grader in the back which is run by an aux. hydraulic pump and a bucket up front which is run off the pto. It also came with a set of chains and the original manuals. I purchased it from the second owner who has owned it since 1959. I paid $2100 for the works. I didn't know for sure if I got a good deal or not, but am happy with the tractor. So far I've changed the oil & filter, plugs and antifreeze. The only problems that I've had have been a slow turning starter.(6 volt) I've put her away for the winter, but come this spring I will be checking all connections, wires, etc. to hopefully rectify this problem. I've learned alot just by checking this site and reading all the questions, answers and comments. In fact I found the tractor through someone who has had quite a few for sale in the photo ads on this site. I purchased it in northern Wisconsin in October of 2000 and took it to our place in the U.P. of Michigan. I live in the Milwaukee area of Wis. and have a 40 acre hunting camp in Mi. Part of the property (about 5-6 acres) was open and I am in the process of having it planted in clover. I will be using the tractor to cut the clover, move rocks, wood, etc. and just enjoy a classic piece of machinery. Right now she sits in a friends barn 225 miles from home and I can hardly wait for spring to fire her up and put her to work. I really enjoy this site and all the information I have gained. When I figure out how to, I will post some pics of my baby! Keep up the great work guys. You really do help all the rookies out there.

You did good, you didn't steal it, but the cheap one some times end up costing more than what you have in yours in the end. Love to see a picture.

i'd say you did alright for a lawn mower, snow plow... and cool antique tractor. your total out- lay is about what a new woods mower goes for! tim
