This is a picture of the covers from two different Allis oil pumps that failed. The larger cover was from a D 15 and I have already resurfaced it. The smaller cover is from a C Allis and is cut into to where there would be a lot of bypass of oil. The ball is from the same C pump and although the picture does not show it as I was hopeing, it is pitted to where it would not build proper pressure. Also the springs that hold the vanes apart had rusted to where the tention was gone.

All of this is repairable and is not a big job after the pump is on the bench.

Dick I have had 35 or 40 B and C oil pumps apart in the last 35 years,BUT I have never seen one worn that bad! Ron

Great pictures! Did an oil pump on a B last night.Springs were full of crud but cleaned up good. Springs lengths checked out per I&T manual as did the end play. Worry about relief valve retaining pin. It didn't seem tight enough. Did not have a way to measure spring tension.

The pin should be turned down at both ends so it will lock in. The spring holds it up and in place.
No I didn't check the tension, I had several springs and picked the best looking one.

Bout like I check my girl freinds. Best lookin ones don't seem to pick me though. Not complainin mind you, they is some real nice ugly ones out there.

Ya, know Dick, there is a lot of truth in the old saying that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder". I've noticed that girl I "be- holdin'" is normally pretty enough!

Seriously, for all you real youngun's, your much better off gettin' a girl that has a good engine rather than just pretty sheet metal. The sheet metal WILL get dented and rusty with time but if the engine is good, then you still got a good one!

yeah, but if the not so good looking one blows a rod is she worth rebuilding?? I mean rod as in the engine, lol.
