A cast iron oil pan on a C Allis. I was told that they were rare. I have two and saw another tractor sell at auction that had the cast pan and valve cover. I have been wondering if they are in fact rare or it was just someones idea because they hadn't seen them.

Dick, I have been told that there are a few of these cast pan's and valve cover's, but they are not too rare. Someone told me that they have even seen cast final drive covers. I haven't seen any of those, but I do have a cast pan and valve cover. From what I've been able to find out, these cast items mainly came on the war time models, when steel was at a premium. Dick L I have a 43 model B that has a cast iron oil pan and valve cover,it also has a cast iron rear main seal retainer.

You are correct about any open spot gets covered, but that aint my shop. I moved the engine in the heated house garage to assemble it rather than heat my shed in the real cold weather. I see in the picture how high I have stuff piled on the desk and a towel that I wiped the windsheild dry on the car draped over the door.
Yup, I'm a slob, or so Jackie tells me.

Heck, I think Dick L's shop/garage looks great. Mine is a small shed in the middle of a field with only three walls. I just recently got power in it. Currently it contains only D-200 Wheelhorse with front blade and plow on rear 3pt hitch. The shed use to have a 48 AC-C in it, but Dad is currently playing with it. I did hear him mumble something about your don't deserve a good orange tractor until you have a good home for it. Hehehe
