D-17 thermostat

Still haven't found the right thermostat.The closest one was from NAPA, a 2 pcs. but still floats around inside housing. The original was 3 pcs.(very rusted when I took housing apart). Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?????

I put a 350 chevy thermostat in my D17 diesel and it fit perfectly and has worked fine

did you try agco for an oem thermostat, I went through a 17 engine last summer that had a 2 piece thermostat and replaced it with a normal 1 piece unit from car quest and do not recall any problem finding it. is it possible someone has modified the thermostat hsg.? maybe you need a new hsg. good luck.
