Got a WD that losses oil pressure almost down to nothing after she warms up. Is this normal? Runs strong , no knocks, never overheats.

C.Fitz; The minimum oil pressure for you're machine is 10 psi ideling at operating temp. Anything below this can be very damageing to the engine. check you're gauge or test with an known accurate gauge. If pressure is still low add a shim or two, if this does'nt help drop the oil pan, clean sump screen AND the pressure relief valve in oil pump,check valve spring to see if it broken or weak, replace if nessesary. also check to be sure oil filter comp. tube is not missing or plugged. If the problem persists after these checks, you're engine bearings are wore and will have to be replaced.

worn camshaft bearings can cause low oil pressure too.

the recomended pump gear baclash is.006 to .008,i have .021 accordingly my pump gears are severly worn out. i'm looking for replacment gears or someone who chromes them to a recomended size. it would be a shame to tear the enjine down and replace all the bearings and still have the problem, to replace the pump gears is easy, oil pan removal and your there. i would recomend to start with the pump before taking down a good running enjine.

c.fitz. the allis wd manufacture recomend oil pressure is only 12 to 15psi if you think it is to low there is a plug next to the dip stick where when removed you can add shims to increase the pressure you need to have a relibalbe gage with engine oil at operating temp. to set the pressure

It is if the engine bearings are worn out. STOP USING THE TRACTOR until you find out if the oil preasure is actually low or if the gauge is defective. You might borrow a master guage from a mechanic and try it first. The minumum oil presure you should see is 10 pounds for every 1000 rpm. Could be alot of different things. If it happened all the sudden could be gas in the oil you might try changing the oil and see if that helps. Smell the old oil for a strong gas smell.

the backlash of the pump gears exceeds .020, cant find replacement gears or a oil pump rebuilder.thanks all coments are welcombed
