The long lever on the right side that has the button on top. Can someone tell me what it does and what the button is for? The button is not hooked to anything so I do not know what it is supposed to do. I purchased a service manual but it does not say anything about it.

That would be the power director lever. This lever gives you a high and low range for each gear. It has three positions. They are high(forward),low(back) and neutral(middle). Each position is detented. That's what the button is for. I think, with wear the detent might not work well. I'm not sure. I operate mine without thinking about it. The power director will withstand slippage more than the foot clutch.(It runs in oil). It is best to use the hand clutch(power director) when engaging a heavy load. You will find this to be about the handiest thing on your tractor. It is great for baling hay where you have to slow down to a creep. You don't have to stop to shift up or down. Play with it. You will like it.
