My friend and I found a hedge row special we ended up bringing home with spoke fronts on it. It had sat for a bought 4 or so years with no cover or any muffler cover. We pulled it and it came to life nearly right away. We then drove it home the 6 or 8 miles to the barn. Anyways what I wanted to know is with this tractor did they make a C with regular rears and spoke fronts (with rubber tires)? As far as we could find on the ser# it is a 1942. Any help would be nice as we are stumped. On a side note the tractor had all the culitvators and two way plows(plus all the parts).

Hi Guys; War year tractors,i.e. '41-'45, came from the factory on steel wheels, Front and back. This was because rubber tires were not allowed because of the war, all rubber tires were for military purposes only. The steel fronts are original if you're tractor is a '42, It would of had steel rears as well. The tractor will be worth more if you can find and install a set of factory steel rears. They can be tough to find but it makes a neat looking machine.

It doesn't have the tall air cleaner stack. It also has the short under the hood muffler. It looks much more different than the Allis B with the tall stack and tall muffler. Kinda sleek

I have a 1943 C. It has steel on all 4 wheels, i'd like to change it over to rubber eventually. It had rubber tires, i was told but they dissapeared years ago. Magically i guess... I'm working on rebuilding it to use as a work tractor. I'll see what i can find out about the tires. Mayb we can compare work. as we go along...
Good luck.

Sounds like some one cut down the steel wheels

Ron the wheels are factory made. The ones on the JD B we have are cut down and look like it.The ones on the Allis C are made in a jig at the factory. I would say that it would be hard to match a set and make it look like it if it was a "farm job".
