My problem is in my starter switch connections. I took my neg battery cable and my wire from my + ammeter off the termianl checking for a broken wire. Did not find a broken wire but now I have a dead short when I reconnect everthing. Big spark when I reconnect + ground battery cable. Volt metrer reads 5 dcv from cable to + post. Volt metter also reads 5dcv from end of starter switch terminal and outside of starter switch casing. When I took off the orginal starter and switch connections there where

several insulation washers on the starter terminal screw but I can't remember where they were are why they were there?? Need Help Thanks Fred

Fred, from what you describle I believe you have
short in the starter switch.Ther is two piece of
insulation under the switch, are they still there?
The termial screw must be well insulation.A new switch is advise if nothing else works.
