Am looking at some WC's that are for sale and only have pictures of them. WC's had muffler under hood. One pic shows WC with wide, through-the-hood stack like, I believe, 45's have. Picture is dark and can't see motor. Most probably means non-orig. motor? Or?

or the exhaust manifold rusted out and someone replaced it with a manifold for a later model, cut a hole in the hood and put a later model muffler on it. I don't think the WC side exhaust pipe manifolds are available now.

it depends on what year model you have. On pre styled models, exhaust was just a simple stack coming out of hole in hood. later styled models had a muffler line a WD-45

I don't think any of the WCs came out of the factory with an "above the hood" muffler. The high compression (gasoline burning) styled WCs had an oval muffler under the hood with a short pipe coming out of the top of the hood. Tractor fuel (kerosene) tractors had the angled non-muffled pipe which protruded from under the side of the hood. Tractors with the two-fuel manifolds had two different exhaust pipe plates that bolted to the side of the manifold, one for "fuel" and one for gasoline. These were angled "out the side" straight pipes as well.

I have a early '39 WC 5.1 compression gasoline engine, mine has side 45 deg. exhaust no muffler.
