AC - C runs great without a governor spring. I have one, but someone please give me a reason to put it on??

How do you have the lever in the drawing connected to the governer? The spring connects the two parts and is part of the rpm limiting system.

Dick, your picture shows the governor spring as a link spring and shows it upside down from my manual. Both my and your picture shows the rod from left to right when in fact on my tractor I am looking at it frome right to left??My picture shows the large loop end hooking around the top manfold bolt and the small hook around the rod. But my rod also has a small hole with a carter pin it??Do I hook the spring through this hole?Thanks Fred

Hook the spring into the eye of the cotter key.
