Purpose of bolt/nut center of instrument box??

Located between and just above the lt and magneto switch is a small bolt with nut on inside of instrument box on my AC-C. What is the purpose of it???It is even shown in the manual but is not labeled?

If the bolt your talking about is the one in the top picture, then it helps hold the light switch shown in the lower picture in place. Also helps ground the system.

Dick, that is the bolt I am referring to, my lt switch looked like the one in the picture before I replaced it but nothing was attached to that bolt. How do I wire that bolt to ground my instrument box? Thanks fred

What type of switch did you use? If it is just an off on switch it dont get grounded.

I got the switch from Norm, a Allis parts dealer that is on this website a lot and it has two positions with a fuse and all. I am still having trouble with my rewiring , can't get any reading on the ammmeter, norm sugessted that the instrument box was not grounded,I ran a 14 ga wire from the bolt to my ground last wk and it did not help. Thanks fred

At this point, if you don't have checking equipment, I would take the generator off and take it to a rebuild shop and have them run it on there test stand. Might be a bad cutout.

Its fresh from the generator shop and all is rebuilt with a new cutout, I saw it test out at the shop so I know its something in my wiring or switch or ground or something. Its tough to figure problems out like this when you don,t know what your doing, I build houses I'm sure no mechanic.
