Does anyone know if connecting rod caps are interchangable on a CA

Larry, no is the correct answer because the rod and rod cap are fixture drilled and there for when mixed up the cap could be offset to the rod and cause bearing missmatch. However if you have them mixed up you can slide the caps on the rods without them binding and you do not have a missmatch condition on the inside bore or side offset they will be ok for the reason you stated. If the rods have not been reconditioned to do away with shims, the inside bore is not round, and you only need to be concerned with shimming for the .002 clearance between the crank and bearing. Any time you take a rod cap off it is your responsability to mark both the rod and rod cap. One center punch mark on each for number and two for number two and so on.

What is the reason by your comment and or opinion they look the same and no parts numbers on the caps I thought the difference was in the shims, am I wrong!!!!!
