Does anyone know of a reduction gearbox option - it is too fast for match plowing even in bottom gear!

the way that has ben sugested to me is put a smaller tire on it . a smaller tire will still turn the same revolutions but wont cover so much ground,in effect slowing it down while keeping your rpm s up for hp. or your other option is to find someone at a transmission shop that knows enough about manual trannys to find some different gears fo it . so far finding someone that knowledgeable has been impossible for me. great luck!!!and remember if you wanted a tractor that doesnt move get a john deere !!lol

What will help, would be an RC ring and pinion. The RC was geared lower than the WC which shares a driveline with the WF, but good luck finding one. Hope this helps. And don't worry about those guys comments that bleed green, heck it was almost 1960 before they could get a JD to run on more than two cylinders. TED

The last time I plowed (JD 4630) we plowed at 6 mph. How slow would you want to go?? Speed throws the dirt to smoothe the field. Less disking.

You could always pull the throttle back and run at less engine speed.

old trick we used to use on cars
put two transmissions in line {series}
if you have the room
