OK, you guys, you were right! It was the ground from the starter to the battery that caused the problem. I finally went to town and got a ground wire to run from the starter to the bat, works great!!!!

When I was a kid in the 30' they taught me what to do first if the engine wouldn't turn over:

1. Check the battery
2. CLEAN THE TERMINALS
3. etc.

DO IT!!

I had the starter checked by an old fellow may age down in Delta. He said that he used to run heavy equipment up on the northern Montana border. When it was cold the older equipment wouldn't start. A jumper cable from the starter to the ground on the bat made it start. He said that when equipment gets old it's joints are like old men, they come apart!!

The guy in North Dakota that said the only thing protecting them from the Alberta Clipper was a barbed wire fence made me think of this old fellow!
