The best tire chains available in the US are from St Pierre of Connecticut in Wethersfield CT. My dad owns the company & he sells the patented Roller Grip Detachable Tire Chains. They are the coolest thing goin'. His phone # is 860-529-2628 & his fax is 860 257 7967. My uncle owns a 150 acre farm & uses those type chains on all the trucks & tractors John Deere's dating back to 1948 Model "M"'s (2) of them up to 1969 JD 3020 Diesel. All the truck are 2 wheel drive & whenever we get over 1 inch of rain we gotta "Chain em up!" Call him up with the tire size & he can expalin how they are far superior to conventional style chains. He can also mail or fax you a brochure. Good Luck

Dan has a good suggestion, especially if you're on a tight budget. A lot of the chains off the bigger plow trucks are big enuf for the smaller tractors, and if need be you can add side link length and cross links. Even if the links are 1/2 worn out, they'll be plenty good enough for the low speed of a tractor. I have good luck turning the worn side of the cross links to the tire and exposing the unworn side. If you can get enuf matching sets of old chains, you can double up on the number of cross links. This really works well. By the same token, old car chains can be made up for garden tractors. I found 2 sets of matching "bar" style car chains with nice long cross links with which to make a set of ice chains for my brother-in-law's Sears tractor. I doubled up on the cross links and they work real well with the turf tires. Spreading the links on truck chains can be a bear. I used to do it with a chisel in a vise until a friend loaned me his truck chain tool. With 2-1/2' handles, this thing makes it a breeze.

you may try your county secondary road department, used chains from a grader will work and they may have some old sets lying around the shop.
