I have just acquired an Allis Chalmers this month and am looking to identify what I have.
I think it is a C model but am not sure.It is 6 volt,4 cyl.,has hyd. rear lift, wide front axle,3 speed trans. Looks like a super A but is longer. It runs good when pulled off but won't start by starter.I need info badly.I also can't find where the ser. # is located. This tractor came from a farm,it was sitting in a field.Any help would be appreciated.

I had the same problem figuring what I have, which is a C. Look right near the gear shift, it there should be a serial #. if it starts with a C then it is, if it starts with something else it's probably that... If it has a wide from it might be a B though.

The Ser. number is right by the gear shift. If it begins with a C, tht is the designation. A wide front end was on a lot of C's, I have 2, both with wide front ends. The 3 speed trans is also an indication of a C. However, I have a C serial number with the steering arm going below the front end of the tractor, not above, in front of the generator like a typical C. The B went below. It is an early number however, C12364 R, which to my research indicates it was made in 1941. It does have a self starter, 6 volt, magnito, and I have restored it completly s(no, not just paint) Back to the steering, sI thought maybe it was a B wide front end, but i dont think so, as the entire mounting for the front end is like my newer C, seriel number C 62325, built in 1948. With a self starter, it should start in a heart beat if clean, timed, and with good fuel supply. Give me some more specifiecs, and I will lsee if I can help. Dan

Most C's were narriw front end so yours may be a B or a CA. Check sn on casting near shifter.
