I have recently bought a mid 40's Allis. It was used to take care of the grounds at a church, it's been there since the invention of dirt and noone knows exactly what year it is, or whether it is a C or CA. Is there anything i can look at to see? It has a tricycle setup. Until now we've only used Farmalls on our farm. So i don't know much about anything else. If anyone could gimme an address or web site that says where i might aquire new sheet metal parts too would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

The C originally came with a bench type seat, the CA came with a typical tractor type pan seat.

Mid-forties Allis could not be CA. CA built first in 1950.

If you look at the flat area by the grear shift you will find serial # if it is a C it will start with a C, if it is a CA it will start with a CA, then you go to the serial number section of this page and find year.

A CA has a hand clutch a C does not.

A CA has a sheet metal platform under your feet a C does not.

A CA has a 1 3/8" pto shaft a C has 1 1/8"

Those are quick ones.

CA does not have hand clutch as CA was not built until 1950, also CA does not have sheetmetal under feet, CA has 4 speed trans and CA also have 1 person pan type seat, C has bench.
