I have my eyes on two tractors. One is a Allis C 1941. Looks great and runs great. One is a Farmall C size, Also a great looker and runner. They are a good match. Please tell me why I should take the Allis over the Farmall. I will be using it for play and light work.

We have an A/C 'B' and a Farmall 'A' and like each one. I advise you to buy both (since they're not that expensive) and use them for a while, then decide. Sell the one you don't want, but I bet you'll keep them both.

I beleave both have the belt pulleys in the rear so that would be equal. Does the farmall have a live hydraulic pump? It may not be necessary depending on what you will be using it for but it's nice to have. I have AC B,C and CA. I like the B the best. I also have had 2 Farmall Super Cs. Neither had the 2pt lift but both had live pumps. I'd say the ACs will out pull the farmalls but the farmalls do have a better road gear. Hard to beat an AC B on a hay rake though.

Weight for weight Farmalls usually have less power. ACs have a snappier more lively engine. I am sure either would be fine, my choice would be the AC, but I am biased. Tom

Doesn't the Allis have a 3 speed trans. like the B??? "IF" so, i'd take the Farmall and RUN! I just hated the B Allis i "had" just for this reason!!! Then again, i use my tractors. Robert

Bud,
I have an A-C B (very similar to the A-C C) and I used to have a Farmall C. Either one would be good for light chores. The main disadvantage to te Farmall is it's physical size, compared to the A-C C. Other than that, it's pretty much a tossup. Like one of the others said, get them both if you can. If you can only get or keep one, I'd actually go for the Farmall, due to ease of getting on and off. A C or B Allis seems to be designed to make it difficult to get on and off of.

if your wife votes "no", sell her and you won't have to go to the bank. I think the idea of buying both is great! But I would still get the AC if limited to only one. GET BOTH!!!

I recently bought a small fleet of AC's for restoration. Two 'B' models, a 'C' and two 'CA' models.

The Little Allis's were noted for their easy handling and were the subject of the original tractor square dance.

For a recreational tractor, go Allis.

Bud,

I have an AC Model B and a Farmall Cub, both 1950 vintage. I personally have found the A-C much easier and simpler to work on than the Farmall. Since you Model C is very similar to my Model B, I would think that this would apply to it also.

I really like my little Cub. It is a great toy to play with. I love my Model B because I think that it is great for light work as you describe.

You will enjoy either. I surely have.
