Is this sound normal?

When my AC WD hydraulic pump is working a hear a sound that I describe as knocking. I believe I hear the cam followers on the clutch shaft cams for the hydraulic pump. How much knock is normal? It is louder the first time I use the pump after start up but I always hear it when I'm lifting something. I have a guage on the system and I hear the sound at low pressures, 1000 Lbs.

The sound is normal & will be more noticeable
as pressure rises but it should not be excessive.
If you are concerned it may be wise to take the
pump off & make sure a roller or plunger spring
is not bad. Bill
