Hi I have a 1946 C model allis, which I use to launch my ski boat, on the last outing the clutch slipped when I was pulling out the boat. I checked the thrust bearing in the hope it needed adjustment but it runs free. Do I need to replace the clutch and pressure plate or is there a miracle cure? If so will I be able to split the tractor without too much trouble. Parts may also be a problem as I live in Melbourne Australia. Any advice would be appreciated.
Regards
Brendan

Brendan, Just a thought before you tear into it, is it possible when you launched the boat that the clutch got wet? This will cause a clutch to slip until the friction/heat dries it out. You probably already thought of this.

If the throw out bearing is not riding
on the fingers then the clutch is either worn out or oil soaked. The C is easy to
split if you use common sense where safety
is concerned. We could supply your parts-we
have them on shelf. We are in Pennsylvania,
drop us an e mail if we can help. Bill

It is easy to split the tractor if you support it well with provision to roll one half away from the other. Stableize the front well, it will want to tip to one side or the other. You may only need to replace the clutch disc. Unless the pressure plate is heat checked (cracked) I wouldn't worry about it unless the clutch disc isn't worn thin, near or to the rivits, if the disc isn't worn thin the springs may be weak letting the clutch slip.

Good luck
