I have a wd serial number wd233575GA. Is this a
1953? It says on production numbers there were
only 146,380 made. Did they skip some numbers? What does the GA stand for? It has a wide front
end is that it?

MC, The number you gave us is the "engine" serial no., rather than the "tractor" serial no. The tractor serial number can be found on the rear LH vertical face of the differential below the spring hole and just above the brake adjusting bolt/locknut. Armed with the "tractor" serial no., you can go to "Serial Numbers" under "Research & Info" to you immediate left on this screen, and find the true year of your tractor. I have been recording both "engine" and corresponding "tractor" serial numbers whenever I can find them and although my list is very limited, I would guess your tractor is a 1949. A-C used different suffixes on their "engine" ser. nos. to denote low compression (tractor fuel/kerosene) and high compression (gasoline). My WD manual says: KA=low compression PA=high compression My WD-45 manual says: FK=low compression FG=high compression I have 2 WDs (one PA and one GA) and 3 WD-45's (two are suffixed G and the 3rd has no engine serial number at all) I have yet to see any engine serial number that includes either FK or FG. Now.....let's hear from some others; there has to be someone out there that knows "the real deal" with these letter designations.

That number makes it a 1957 WD45 according to ALLIS-CHALMERS FARM EQUIPMENT 1914-1985 by Norm Swinford. I don't know what the GA is. Maybe someone else will have an opinion on this.
