Ca Hydraulics don't work

Just bought a '52 Ca in nice condition, but the hydraulics do absolutely nothing. The fluid is filled and everything seems to be in place and in good condition. I can push and move the rams by hand. How do I diagnose and fix the system? This is my first experience with hydraulics, all info will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks

I your PTO engaged? The hydraulics won't work with it disengaged.

On a CA, you have to have the PTO engaged for the hydraulic pump to work. The plungers on the hydraulic pump drive off cams on the PTO shaft.

I don't have a picture of it, but there is a plug on top of the pump body where you can put oil in to prime the pump. It might not work but should be worth a try. I had one that had rust on the check ball that would not hold a prime untill the pump was taken apart and cleaned.
