My Grandfather had an old Allis B for probably 30+ years .

It was a dark blue/green color . I have even seen pictures from the 1950's of my Dad driving it and it was the same color .

What gives ? Could this have been the original color or for something special ?

My Dad can't remember and they sold the tractor when my Grandfather died 15 years ago .

Just wondering .

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I have a neighbor with an Allis B for sale. He's asking $500. It's a bit rough, but all there and it does run. Email me if interested and I'll give you his phone number and name. The tractor is located in Central Texas, South of Waco.

Phil

I remember seeing something about the Air Force using Bs & IBs. They were painted Air Force blue. Could he have acquired it as surplus?

Could be that he got it as military surplus .

I will ask my Dad and see if he remembers .

I did not tell you the whole story of what happened to the tractor .

It had a belly mounted sickle mower with a hydraulic cylinder to raise up and down . It was geared a bit high to cut the creek banks so we kept it out of gear and pulled it with the 8N . We also kept waterjugs handy as the radiator leaked . Grandpa had taken off the starter to use on a Buda powerunit he had so we pulled the Allis off with the 8N .

The tractor sold for $450 at the auction . I am still kicking myself after 15 years !

Someday I will find one to restore with my son.

Chris
