What year ED 40?

Hi there,

We just brought home an Allis ED 40 which is in great original condition. I checked the serial number and is says ED 5175. I can't find the serialnumbers for these tractors. Is there anyone who can tell me the year our tractor is? ( engine casting date is 02-21-68.

According to C.H.Wendel book ( P.329 )ED-40 were sold in Canada in 1963 only.138 cu.in. diesel

I sold a ed40 last year and it was a 63 any I've seen are 1963's they were a good unit the only occuring problem I ever had was a leakey PTO shaft seal.

Hi there,

Sorry I didn't mention that we live in the Netherlands. The ED 40 is sold trough the Allis main supplier until 1967. This one is however sold by a small company who sold these tractors after the Allis main supplier had stopped.

The engine casting date say 1968? Hope someone has the serial numbers.
