Stump pulling with your "C" is going to be a challenge because it lacks hp and weight/traction. Still, the same safety rules and tricks of multiplying hp will apply so give it a try with a great deal of caution. I use wire rope and snatch blocks (pulleys) with a lot of success. I have a relatively small tractor (MF-2135) with about 37hp and CaCl filled wheels. I've pulled stumps up to a foot in diameter with little trouble. I can't overstate the advantage of snatch blocks and wire rope. Wire rope, like chain, will not stretch or recoil when it breaks. NEVER USE NYLON OR POLY ROPE. That stuff will kill you. It stretches like a rubber band and recoils with force and usually right at the tractor seat. A properly placed pulley will double your draw. Two pulleys would further multiply your ability to pull. With enough tackle, you could conceivably pull the stump out by hand. The most effective configuration is a tight line between your target stump and anchor point, with a "floating" pulley riding the line. When you pull latterally on that line, the forces against your target are greatly multiplied at first but decrease as the angle decreases. That's fine since the initial pull will dislodge the stump. Leaving some length on a stump will allow you to use leverage when pulling it out. I prefer pulling over complete trees but I never pull in the direction of the fall. A pulley allows me to pull diagonally and away from the fall line. I use a stout steel wheel rim to re-direct the cable's latteral pull into an "up and out" pull. Root systems are designed to keep trees from falling over but are less effective against an upward pull. If I'm pulling a tree over, the wheel rim chained to the stump causes the tree's own falling weight to pop the stump out of the ground. Good luck, stay safe and tell us how things go.
